Dear Friends, Colleagues, Ladies, and Gentlemen,

It is with a deep sense of delight, pleasure and humility. I, the editor-in-chief, announce the launch of the Journal of Acute Care (JAC). On behalf of the editorial team, I propose to extend a very warm welcome to the readership JAC. I take this opportunity to immensely thank the contributors, editors, and reviewers who have unconditionally and enthusiastically contributed to the success of the journal.

Journal of Acute Care (JAC) is the official organ and publication of “AsiaEd Collegium of Medical Education Society.” This is a tri-annual peer-reviewed medical journal covering the study of all disciplines of Emergency, Critical, and Acute Care. The journal aims to provide a platform for members to have access to latest and the best scientific, peer-reviewed, and clinically oriented knowledge suitable to the specific needs of the readers globally. JAC aims to be a vehicle for transferring knowledge between specialties that undertake acute care by publishing open access, high quality, peer-reviewed research from around the world. Acute care is provided by all the clinical specialties, medical, and surgical alike. We encourage submissions from a spectrum of bench-to-bedside research undertaken by various specialties that are involved in acute clinical care.

Scope of the journal is one that is embracing clinical and pre-clinical topics from specialties that are above and beyond critical care. This, we wish will integrate expertise from various specialties toward the development of a holistic evidence base that can best inform acute clinical care.

Specialties that are accounted for publication include but not limited to emergency medicine, anesthesiology, intensive care, coronary care, pulmonology, trauma, and surgical specialties. We accept all forms of original research which are undertaken ethically and with a sound scientific quotient. We welcome contributions that can demonstrate practical usefulness, particularly contributions that take a multidisciplinary/convergent approach because many real-world problems are complex.

Journal of Acute Care provides an ideal forum for exchange of scientific information in various formats, namely editorials, original research papers, invited reviews, case reports, and interesting images and videos. Special features of JAC will include tutorials/trainee corner, pro-con debates, and tutorials technological breakthroughs. The editorial board of JAC is derived from peers in the field of critical care, emergency medicine, anesthesiology, pulmonology, infection control, and biostatistics. This group is strongly committed to provide science-driven, peer-reviewed manuscripts conforming to the strict international processes and editorial standards expected by the scientific community. The frequency of publication will be three issues in a year. To warrant quick dissemination of information, we aim at targeting the review process of each contribution within 4 weeks of the date of submission.

I earnestly invite clinicians, scientists, and academicians of acute medical care to contribute their exciting research to JAC. Once again, I welcome you to publish in JAC. I hope to hear from you soon, your feedback, inputs, and suggestions!
